The city of Genoa boasts the largest historical centre in Europe.
The years between 1994 and 1998 saw strong tensions between white and black people over the control of the urban territory.
In 1994 I was invited by the Council for a Stoneware performance. The strong urban and social tensions were a source of inspiration for me. For sculptures, I took inspiration from the architecture of the historical centre of the city, its ancient medieval columns with their round, hexagonal, octagonal bases.
For that occasion I created a series of columns in black and white, with capitals, of various dimensions (cm 250-290). Subsequently, I realized further columns in gres with clay and enamels of different tones.
